“I
was at that meeting,” said Gooding. “And
I am very encouraged by the enthusiasm I see coming
from the other islands to make this new Triathlon
body work.”
The countries involved for the present include
Antigua, St. Kitts/Nevis, Martinique, Guadeloupe,
Grenada, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago. Those
expected to join later will include Jamaica, Bahamas,
Puerto Rico and Suriname. “One of the CTU’s
decisions is to have a minimum if at least two
athletes from each member country competing at
each country’s major event,” said
Gooding. “And a CTU championship will be
held once a year in one of the countries on a
rotating basis. This year it will be held in Antigua
on December 14. And next year it will be in Barbados.”
