The race course for the River Raid MTB race is fun and is
suited for skilled bikers as well as entry to medium level
bikers. It is a combination of some single track through forested
area, bamboo and technical dry river beds with fast ups and
downs, ins and outs.
There is one technical switch back climb (approx. 100m).
The course will be 2 and 3 loops counter clockwise. This course is generally fast and an awesome rush.
I would suggest you get there with enough time to do a warm-up
lap. The race starts promptly at 9:00am.
ROUTE:
2010 Course will be similar to
the 2nd River Raid course. You would ride counter clockwise starting from the Samaan Park heading into "New South Bank" up to the Jeep Trail heading towards the Bees. Turn Left onto "Old Mudda" and then Right at the top of "Old Mudda" which would take you on the short trail up to "Extension".
Turn left when you meet "Extension" and head towards "Everest" (but do not go up). Take a left at the big bamboo and than a right at the end of the trail then another right into the small "Marker 5 Loop".
On exiting the loop, head towards the "Old South Bank" trail and follow until it meets up with "North Bank". Cross over and do the new section of North Bank then continue all the way West, back to Samaan Park where you would either go to finish, or start another loop.
Thanks to Berkley Barath and Jason Gooding for restoring the "Old South Bank Trail" and thanks to Courtney Rooks, Dan, Andrew, Stefon Gomes, Maria Gooding, Johnathan Paul (aka Cutter) for their help on the new section on North Bank.
